PTO/VFO Tuned Tiny-Tornado™ QRPp CW Transceiver
Built by KA8MAV

Tiny-Tornado TT-40 REV2c
Build Date: 02/01/2001

This is the latest version of my Tiny-Tornado.  I built this using a heavily modified REV2c kit.  What makes this rig different?  It is PTO/VFO tuned!  It tunes the entire 40-meter band and puts out 1-watt as measured with a KD1JV "Melt Solder" RMS RF Power Meter into a 50-ohm load.

As you can see... it's tiny!  The case is a highly polished LMB aluminum chassis No. 872 which measures only 3-1/4" by 2-1/8" by 1-1/8" tall.

Here's what's inside.  Yes, I know the PTO/VFO needs shielded from the transceiver.  But, I ran out of room.  However, I do have some copper mesh shielding tape on the way and I will use this to complete the rig.

It's actually fairly stable (better than some rigs I heard on "Straight Key Night!").  I'm sure shielding will even further improve it's performance.

I designed the PTO/VFO PCB based on the PTO kit by WA6OTP.  Modifications to the Tiny-Tornado were done with the help of KG6CYN.
