KA8MAV XTAL RF Probe
Build Date: 11/25/2001

I couldn't help myself.

After building my other RF probe using a 1N34A diode which I also use in some of my Crystal Radios... I couldn't resist building an RF probe using a VINTAGE Italian Crystal Detector complete with a real chunk of galena and cats whisker.

Well... substitute the XTAL detector for the 1N34A diode.  I wasn't going to redraw the schematic as I seriously doubt anyone is going to build one of these things.  Well... other than me.

Does it work?  YES IT DOES!

It reads lower than my germanium diode based RF Probe and it's a bit more fussy... you have to tweak the cats whisker to get it to work.  But it DOES work!

Are we having fun yet?
